Qi Gong (氣功) practices are health practices that focus on the breath and movement. Traditionally, the term Qi Gong never actually existed. Rather, each Qi Gong practice went by its original name, for example, the Eight Storing Qi or Posting. It wasn't until modern times that all of these different traditions were termed Qi Gong.
Qi Gong practices are often mistaken with Tai Ji Quan. Tai Ji is actually a martial arts and was used for fighting. However, many modern practitioners, especially in the West, may not even know how to use it and rather use it more for staying healthy.
Qi Gong is an excellent way to maintain one's health. If you live in Taipei, you are welcome to come to my weekend class
on Qi Gong.
