If you want to stay in good health, then you must take good care of yourself. One of my teachers would tell us that you must treat your mind and body like a temple, always keeping it clean and tidy.
Unfortunately, in most of the West, this idea has become alien to us. We are taught to simply push forward, with no care for the consequences. Once you get sick, you take a pill to resolve the symptoms and then continue. This attitude, however, leads to long term problems, as the population gets worn down with age.
In the East, the idea of staying healthy as one grows old is more ingrained in the culture. Thus, you see elderly people who are more active and healthy, rather than inactive and addicted to pain pills.
